Sports Shots has raised
for our two charities:
We would like to dedicate this site to the memory of Jonathan Stobart, a dear and valued friend who gave us the belief that we could make this a success. RIP Stompy.
Welcome to Sports Shots!
Sports Shots is a sport-based news and images service run by Andy Bone and his wife Lorna, with the help from Dale & Gemma James, Darren Stanger, Luke Stafford and friends in the sporting community.
Focusing in and around Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, Andy and Lorna came up with the idea to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Vasculitis UK while following a love of local sport.
Sports Shots is not a charity. All donations are made to Macmillan Cancer Support and Vasculitis UK; every effort is made to distribute money raised equally between the two charities.
No personal gain is made from Sports Shots.
After starting a Facebook group for our action shots at local matches in 2009, we started a website in January 2011 with news to support our images.
Sports Shots has evolved beyond our wildest expectations and to date the website is approaching 11.5 million hits from around the world.
Our social media following has 843 fans on Facebook and 1,116 followers on Twitter.
Our ethos is to support local clubs by letting them use our reports and images for their websites, matchday programmes, Facebook and Twitter groups for no charge. We also supply local newspapers with our images free of charge as it is all about our community, not personal gain. All we ask for is an accreditation and that is with the aim of raising awareness into what we do.

Sports Shots is also very fortunate to have the following people supporting the site –
Dale James has vast experience of media and photography duties at Winslow United and Ardley United. A Non-League follower, who has an excellent knowledge of the local football scene, Dale is also a very good photographer who showcases his work in the Oxford-based newspapers, as well as online. Dale is now writing for the Non-League Paper. A fantastic addition who we are honoured to include as part of our team.
Luke Stafford supports raising money for charity by showcasing his excellent photography work on our Facebook group.
Darren Stanger, who brings a wealth of experience in being Columnist for the South Northants Cricket League during the summer. Darren has now taken up covering a local game every weekend and is our newly-appointed North Bucks & District Football League Columnist. Sports Shots are very lucky to have a massive asset in Darren contributing to the site.
The ethos of Sports Shots has evolved over time but the aim has remained – Supporting charity, local sport and images!
After starting life by displaying images via Facebook in 2009 we were on our way!
On the 24th March 2010 we started a club on Facebook in the hope we could ‘make something happen’. Thanks to the
support of friends the launch went well.
Once the 2010 cricket season started what followed was totally unexpected!
As at the close of 2010 we have 133 fans!
Between the 24th March and 1st of November we had over 3,000 hits!
Our images in 2010 supported local clubs by us supplying images to the local paper. This promoted the clubs, their
members and their sponsors in gaining coverage.
We also thank Horspath Cricket Club’s “Zoom Queen” Helen Messenger for joining us in 2010 which meant
we could show images from two different Cherwell Cricket League games on the same day!
Helen, we are proud to say, has had images published in the Wisden’s Cricketer magazine!
On 29th January we launched this website as our latest venture!
We will give ALL our profits to Macmillan Cancer Support & Vasculitis UK.
We have had millions of hits …….
We started our new Russell & Butler YouTube Channel!
We strive to improve and bring the best coverage we can to the local area and beyond!
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us! There are now too many to mention!
