We asked James:

How was your summer, do you miss football when it finishes or is it nice to just get away from it and relax?

My summer was great thank you, we went to visit family in Jersey. It was good to have a break but as soon as pre-season rolls around, you’re itching to get back involved again

Re-signed on for Aylesbury this summer, what influenced your choice and were there any other clubs that wanted you?

I played in the Danny Martone charity game over the summer at Aylesbury and there was a real buzz about the club, it was great to see so many familiar faces. After speaking to Paul and hearing his plans, it was definitely something I wanted to be a part of again

How do you feel your early season games have gone for you personally so far?

I think I’ve been playing okay. I’m enjoying my football at the moment which is the most important thing. It’s a good group of lads that Paul has put together

What are the expectations and/or targets for the season for you yourself, and the squad as a whole?

We’re going through a bit of a rebuilding phase at the moment, the future is looking really bright at the club. We’re not getting carried away though, we’re just taking each game as it comes

Who has been your biggest influence in football?

I used to love watching my dad play on a Saturday afternoon. He played centre half and my uncle played in goal

How much belief is there in the squad that you can have a successful season, and which players will be key for you to achieve this?

It’s a very positive changing room and we’ve got a good mix of youth and experience. Alfi Touceda in particular, has had a cracking start to the season

Away at Stansted this week in FA Vase action, do you know anything about them & what are you expecting from them?

I don’t know much about them to be honest, I haven’t played there before so it’ll be good to see a new ground. We’re well aware that anyone can beat anyone in competitions like this, hopefully we can work harder on the day and get the result we want

Paul Toms

Who is the biggest moaner in the dressing room?

That’s easy, Paul Toms!

In your current squad, who is the most under rated player in your opinion?

Keith Mupfururirwa has been brilliant so far this year. Roy Byron is an unsung hero as well

Who has the worst dress sense at the club?

Pete Forssling!

When you leave the football pitch on a Saturday, what is the first result you look for elsewhere, and why?

Whoever I’ve captained that week for fantasy football!

Who is the last person you would let choose the music in the dressing room (or car) on matchday, and why?

Macca’s music was on point on Monday night away at Reading. If anyone else tries to connect their phone then there’s going to be words!

What’s the one game this season you most want to win and why?

I’m not sure there is one to be honest! I want to win every weekend!

Finally, after you’ve saved a hatrick of penalties on Saturday, what can supporters buy you in the bar afterwards?

A lottery ticket! It’d clearly be my lucky day!

Sports Shots would like to thank James for his time this week
