Buckingham Athletic boss Neil Griffiths has given an honest assessment on his side ahead of the visit of Park View on this weekend.
Griffiths told Sports Shots;
Saturday gives us a home game against Park View and an opportunity to put last week’s disaster behind us.
We’ve had a poor start, that’s in plain sight and the table doesn’t make great reading.
We had gone into last weekends game with 3 wins from 4 and set of winnable league fixtures ahead.
Whilst we had 10 players unavailable (only one due to holiday, the rest were injured or ill) we had more than enough to win the game. So we won’t hide behind that at all. I don’t ever want to be part of an excuse culture. It wasn’t good enough from us all.
Our performance deserved something from the game but there is only one statistic that matters and Wodson took all three of them.
All this being said, we need to stay calm and not lose our way. There was enough in the way we applied ourselves Saturday to know we are up for the scrap.
We are 10 points off that elusive top 4 promotion spot. There are 90 points and 7 months of football ahead of us. That is an incredible amount of football to go.
We welcome back four from injury and illness on Saturday so we will be stronger going into the game.
We were in a similar position last season and we know how to get out of it and I have complete belief we will do that again.
Our start has made it harder for us, but certainly not unachievable.
You have spells in seasons where things don’t got your way. Frustratingly once again ours has come at the start but the next 4 league games represent a fantastic opportunity for 12 points and we need to ensure we take those.
