We asked Sam:

How was your summer, do you miss football when it finishes or is it nice to just get away from it and relax?

My summer was good, it’s nice to let my body relax, but it’s also not so good when there isn’t any football to be played or watch!

Re-signed on for Winslow this summer, what influenced your choice and were there any other clubs that wanted you?

There were a few people asking with regards to signing on for them but when I knew we were keeping most of the lads together it was a no brainer. Winslow is a great club, not just the team but the fans, committee & chairman are all great

How do you feel your early season games have gone for you personally so far?

Pre-season went really well game wise with some great results. I had a nasty injury in the early round FA Cup game which saw me on the sidelines for over a month, but since then I think my personal performances have been good

What are the expectations and/or targets for the season for you yourself, and the squad as a whole?

I think we expected to go further in the FA Cup and the Vase but now we need to concentrate on getting promoted. With the squad we have it’s not an unrealistic goal

Who has been your biggest influence in football?

It’s hard to say really, from a young age it has always been my grandad, he’s always been there supporting and taking me to games and still comes to watch now, being a former goalkeeper himself

How much belief is there in the squad that you can have a successful season, and which players will be key for you to achieve this?

We’ve had a few bad results which we didn’t expect but we all know we are good enough so the belief is there. Captain fantastic needs to stay fit, him and Kieron in the middle are crucial for us, when they are firing there isn’t much stopping them

Away to Amersham on Saturday this week, do you know anything about them & what are you expecting from them?

Personally don’t know much about them but we go into every game believing we can come away with three points. We had a great result against Amersham last season at their place so hopefully we can repeat that

Who is the biggest moaner in the dressing room?

That’s got to be the skipper when things aren’t going right, but that’s his job I guess

What is your typical pre-match routine before you get to the ground?

Up, shower, breakfast, not much more to it really

Grant Karwacinski

In your current squad, who is the most under rated player in your opinion?

Most underrated I would say is Grant (Karwacinski), he is mister consistent. Never really see him put a foot wrong week in week out. Love to have him on the pitch

Who has the worst dress sense at the club?

Without a doubt Mr Winslow himself Ryan Freshwater

When you leave the football pitch on a Saturday, what is the first result you look for elsewhere, and why?

I always check the Wycombe score, being a massive fan. What teams are doing around us in the league I rarely pay attention to, as long as we’ve done our job what they do then shouldn’t matter

Who is the last person you would let choose the music in the dressing room (or car) on matchday, and why?

Sean Coles – I 100% think he’s only ever heard of Ed Sheeran

What’s the one game this season you most want to win and why?

It has to be ATH derby really, it’s a big game for the club and for them with a good following, always nice to win that one

Finally, after you’ve saved a hattrick of penalties on Saturday, what can supporters buy you in the bar afterwards?

They can buy me some new defenders if we’re giving away three penalties in one game!

Sports Shots would like to thank Sam for his time this week
