Bucks skipper Tom Hampton has reflected on his side’s drawn Unicorns Championship, Eastern Division against Bedfordshire at Flitwick last week,
Hampton told Sports Shots:
After losing the toss and being asked to bowl, then with the unfortunate loss of Mo (Choudhry) on debut. I thought the rest of the bowlers did really well. We managed to control the rate throughout and got our wickets later in the innings. AJ (Woodland) bowled really well and thoroughly deserved his four wickets.
To then follow up the bowling display with the way we batted was disappointing and we spoke about being smarter and adapting to situations better.
Beds then batted well and had the game in their hands, it felt like the wicket had got better and slower which meant taking wickets was trickier.
Ultimately we were left with too much to do in just over two sessions. But for the two openers to bat the way they did and to get us through to draw the game was awesome.
Hopefully we can take that as some momentum for the game against Norfolk.
