Buckingham Town CC II’s host Cumnor on Saturday looking to claw back some points on their fifth placed opponents who have won three & lost twice in their opening games so far this campaign. With Town yet to taste victory since the opening day of the season they will be looking to keep their distance from the two teams below them, and get some confidence back into the side to get their Cherwell Cricket League Division One trail back on track again, but both sides lost last week-end so both eleven’s will be looking to bounce straight back.
This week Sports Shots caught up with Town skipper Steve Beck to find out how he felt last Saturday’s defeat at Westbury went:
Last week was pretty disappointing really. We started off well with the ball and was a little unfortunate not to get some early wickets, we did keep them in check and at drinks they were seventy-three without loss. The game changes straight after where we dropped two catches as they looked to accelerate, Tyse took full advantage of his lives and smashed us everywhere scoring ninety in the next ten overs. We clawed it back well and two hundred & thirty-five was a gettable target, we had a decent start but wickets in the middle overs stalled the run rate and the game went away from us
Onto Cumnor at home this week, what are the team expecting?
This week is already in danger due to the horrific weather. If we do get on the park, it is the first of the new format which suits us better so I am looking for some improved results
This week’s team news?
We have a couple back this week which will hopefully strengthen the batting plus Waz is back down after a few weeks in the first team which will give us more balance with the bowling
