Perkin spoke highly of his side’s application.

We weren’t at our best on Saturday but showed great character with the ball. I said to the lads prior to the game I wanted to make Jordan Hill a fortress throughout the season and we have started well. Obviously there is still work to do with the bat but for our first league game I was very happy.

Next up, Oxford head to the picturesque setting of Shardeloes.

The skipper told Sports Shots;

Saturday will be another big test for us. Amersham are normally one of the tougher sides in the league and we know they are good at home. Once again it’s a case of making sure we do our jobs properly in all three aspects.
