MIDWEEK HEADLINES

Potton United reach their first SSML Challenge Trophy Final. Aston Clinton make it back-to-back High Wycombe Senior Cup Final appearances and Leverstock Green now eight league games without a win.

 

5 February Stats: 5 games played of which 1 was a home wins, 1 was an away wins and 3 draws.

 

Highest Midweek Attendances: 93 Risborough Rangers v Aston Clinton, 88 Leighton Town v Aylesbury and 65 Colney Heath v Baldock Town.

 

LEAGUE CHALLENGE TROPHY Semi Final

Premier Division Potton United were made to work hard by their Division One hosts Enfield Borough in the League Challenge Trophy. Enfield taking an early lead before the visitors fought back to lead 2-1, but a late equaliser meant the tie would be settled with a penalty shoot-out and the visitors held their nerves to advance to their first final with a 7-6 win and a date with local neighbours Baldock Town. PREMIER DIVISION

London Colney were quickly out of the blocks at Leverstock Green, the visitors were three up after just 29 minutes. Green managed to pull one back on 56 minutes but the early damage allowed Colney to return home with maximum points. Elsewhere Colney Heath and Baldock Town battled out a 0-0 draw. BUCKINGHAM SENIOR CHARITY CUP Semi Final First Leg

Leighton Town came from a goal down to take a slender lead into the second leg against their Step 4 opponents Aylesbury. The winner coming from the spot with just three minutes remaining and was scored by Jordan Fredericks against his old club. Full result and goalscorers listed below.

HIGH WYCOMBE SENIOR CUP Semi Final

Holders Aston Clinton can look forward to another final appearance later this season after defeating Division One opponents Risborough Rangers in a penalty shoot-out. Rangers went ahead on 33 minutes and shortly afterwards the Division Two side were reduced to 10 men. Ten minutes from time the lower ranked club levelled the tie and then held their nerves in the shoot-out to progress. Full result and goalscorers listed below.

AND FINALLY

An angry football fan faces being banned from grounds after he threw a pie on to the pitch during a match.

Bournemouth supporter Adam Cox, 27, launched the savoury pastry on to the pitch during a League Cup match at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge in December. It is not known what type of pie was thrown, or if it hit anybody, although Chelsea’s FC match-day menu includes lamb, rosemary and garlic pies
