Anthony Ball has spoken to Sports Shots as Winslow United host Hillingdon Borough in a third-versus-fifth clash in the Spartan South Midlands League, Division 1 on Saturday afternoon.
United will be looking to be back at it after last week’s performance was probably as disappointing as their Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy exit at neighbours Buckingham Athletic.
This weekend will be a good benchmark for United. A big game for the Elmfields gate-based outfit which the talented youngster is looking forward to.
I don’t know much about the other team, but I know they’re up there at the top so it’ll be another good test. The team morale at Winslow is second to none. I’ve never been involved in such a tight-knit group, although everyone is obviously disappointed with the way last weekend went. Therefore every single one of us is eager to get back out and put it right Saturday.
Ball joined up for this campaign slightly late but feels he has more to give.
I didn’t join Winslow until late this season due to starting off the season at Berko (Berkhamsted), where I personally had a very difficult time. Now at Winslow, I feel I’m enjoying my football a lot more than I have done in a long time, and I feel better in the way I’m playing, although I still feel there’s a lot more I’ve got to give.
Ball is settled at Winslow, which is showing in his displays.
Everyone is aiming towards the same goal of promotion and silverware, from the players and coaches through to the staff and fans.
As I said earlier the team morale is so good right now and I think people can see that through the results we’ve been producing. The fans we get turning out in all weathers is great, most of the away games we end up outnumbering the home fans.
