New Aylesbury manager Paul Bonham has praised his side after their 3-2 win at Cambridge City on Saturday afternoon.
Bonham spoke to Sports Shots this evening and was in good spirits after two wins in his opening three games since taking over from Scott Reynolds.
After last week’s defeat, we challenged the side for a reaction and we looked like a team with a point to prove. Cambridge City are a top side so we knew we had to perform well to stand any chance of getting something from the game. With the wind playing a massive part in the game any set piece – corner or free kick was going to cause us problems due to the pure physicality of the opposition. We were pleased with the teams attacking play, the front 3 were linking well and caused all sorts of problems. To score 3 goals against a top 3 side is a great achievement and looking back at the game we could of had more goals.
Bonham has been busy in the transfer market.
Our new signings Ty Deacon and Sam Odusoga both went straight into the side and produced very good performances and we are looking forward to seeing more of them once settled in the squad. It’s been a tough few weeks after Scott leaving but as a squad, we are working really hard in training, working on slight changes to how we want to play and the squad have reacted really well and are buying into what we expect from them.
The man in the Aylesbury hotseat will be looking for more of the same.
Looking forward there are no easy games in this league so we need to continue to keep up the standards set by us as a team and keep pushing to make sure we carry on winning games.
