Thame United assistant manager Stuart Blaik has spoken to Sports Shots as his side return to Evo Stik South Division 1 Central action tomorrow (Saturday) with a trip to Didcot Town.
United were without a game last weekend but head to the Loop Meadow Stadium to play a Didcot side who Blaik still rates highly, despite their position seventh from bottom.
Last season they got to the play-offs and I believe they are a much stronger side than their league position suggests. It is still early in the season but they have some quality.
Thame have trained well in their enforced break and Blaik believes they are in good shape to get a result.
We’ve worked hard and know we have character in this squad of players.
Aaron Jewell misses out as he gets married, while Dan James is suspended after his red card at Coleshill Town last time out.
Aaron has his wedding while Dan is suspended but we bring in Finlay Murray, who is a very talented lad at just seventeen.
One interesting snippet Blaik revealed was that a potential new signing is expected in the door next week.
We are very hopeful that we will strengthen in the early part of next week. It’s a case of getting the paperwork sorted but there will be some positive news for the club.
Saturday is the first of two away trips as United head to Evo-Stik League South Division One South outfit Larkhall Athletic in the FA Trophy, Preliminary Round next Saturday with the bus leaving The ASM Stadium at 11.15am, travel being priced at just £10 for anyone interested.
