Great Horwood were beaten at home on Saturday by New City but earned enough points to take them out of the bottom two of the Four Counties Cricket League Division One table. The visitors won the toss and elected to field, the home side made 181 before being bowled out with a ball to spare in their 40 overs, but New City reached their target with forty of their balls left.
Ken Cronshaw & new signing Dominic Pritchard both top scored for Horwood with 36 runs each, Manjit Singh the pick of the bowlers for New City taking 5 wickets for 32 runs from a ball shy of 8 overs. In return the visitors didn’t make the best of starts and were 16-2 early on, that became 41-3 before Jacobus Barnard hit 51 before being bowled, whilst Jay Singadia made 38 as their side reached their target to claim the win. Olly Prendergast the best of the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 34 runs off 5.2 overs, to keep him joint second in the top wicket takers for the season in division one.
