Talking to Sports Shots, Hampton said:

It was a really pleasing start to the 3-day campaign. I felt we played some very good cricket over all three days.

Michael (Payne) and Garry (Park) batted superbly which put us in control of the game, and then were backed up by brilliant bowling performance from all the guys to bowl them out for what was an under par score. Special mention to Mas (Masoor Khan) for finishing their innings so quickly.

We then went about setting as close to 400 as we could whilst still having a short period to bowl that night, which worked perfectly and with Matt Rance getting the wicket in the last ball of the day.

The last day started superbly with quick wickets for Matt, but a couple of very good knocks including a brilliant knock from there captain. It meant that we had to work all the way to the end of the day. Cam (Parsons) opened the door with two wickets in an over with the second ball and rightly so Matt finished the game with two in two in the last over of the game.

We played some brilliant cricket and really worked hard every session of the game, so to get the win felt amazing and well deserved. It really felt like a team effort for three days with special performances from Michael, Garry and Matt.

We know move onto Northumberland in Jesmond, which will be my first time there but I’ve heard it’s a brilliant place to play an I can’t wait. We are full of confidence and looking forward to it.
