In an interview with Sports Shots, Setterfield said:

Well it’s time to reflect on what has been an extraordinary long season, one that we will be able to talk about in the years to come, both in terms of the weather and the football.

As the Chairman of the club, I would like to thank all the supporters, committee, management, and players of all our teams. The effort and commitment of everyone this season has been unbelievable.

To see our First team pushing for promotion in a highly competitive division, finishing in our highest position in Division One for 43 years, reaching the semi final of the Berks and Bucks Senior trophy and securing our first foray in the FA Cup is a testament to Paul, Roni, Steve, and the players who have created a fantastic team spirit. Our supporters witnessed some exhilarating football which saw us score the most league goals across all divisions in the South Midlands and cheered the team in large numbers both home and away, which saw us end as the most watched team in Division One and helped to create a record breaking season.

The Under 25 development squad have had a very difficult season with a lack of officials meaning a late start, coupled with the bad weather and teams withdrawing meant a premature end to their season. However, despite all this the commitment shown initially by Nick, and Mark, and latterly Nick, Gareth, and Richard in bringing together a team of very talented youngsters and combining that with a few experienced heads culminated in not only reaching the Quarter Finals of the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup, but also in having two players not only stepping up to the first team squad but also scoring and playing a massive part in a 9 game winning run for the First Team. The football that has been played has been some of the best we have seen from a Winslow Development Squad. The league position has been an improvement from last season showing a good positive progression. I’ve seen this as a very successful season for the Management team.

Thank you as well to everybody who puts their time and effort into helping the Club on matchdays and non-matchdays alike. There are simply far too many to mention individually.

Grassroots football is built on those who give their time as freely as they can to help their clubs. We are very fortunate to be blessed with a great band of volunteers at Winslow, but we are always looking for more help, so if you feel you can contribute in any way please do get in touch with us.

Remember, there are always tasks to be done around the ground over the summer, and details of working parties will be announced shortly. If you can lend a hand now and again it would be very much appreciated!

One thing to remind you all about is our Presentation Evening on Friday 25th May, when we will be presenting the Awards for this season. The evening starts from 7.30 pm, at The Bell in Winslow with the Awards ceremony from around 8.30pm onwards. Cost will be £20, so please let me know if you wish to join us.

Thank you for your support this season. I wish you and your families a healthy and happy summer, and I look forward to welcoming you back for the 2018/19 season.
