Buckingham Athletic Football Club are very pleased to announce the appointment of Neil Griffiths as their new first team manager.
In a club statement, Athletic chairman Tony Checkley said:
We are obviously really pleased that Neil has accepted the position as manager after what has been a pretty hectic few weeks of interviews and discussions. I have to say the interest for the job was high and that makes the decision process a little harder but Neil’s enthusiasm really won us over. Over the next few weeks Neil will build up his management team but he will certainly be bringing along Ben Hill as his assistant.
There are many aspects that you have to look at when trying to choose the right person, obviously knowledge and ability is very high on that list but also making sure that people coming in fit the character of the club and during all our discussions with both Neil and Ben that certainly came across. They are fully aware of what we are trying to achieve at Stratford Fields, but they also can see what we have already put in place both on and off the field and their aim is pick up where Mark and his team have left off.
So the new phase starts here and although we are all looking forward to a break there is a busy few weeks in front of us to ensure we are all ready for the new season.
I want to finish by once again sending our thanks on behalf of all the committee and players to Mark Carter and the rest of his management team for all of their hard work and dedication over the last few years. We look forward to seeing them all at Stratford Fields next season in slightly different roles but all still striving to move the club forward.
