The 61 FC (Luton) v Aston Clinton
South Midlands Division Two
Aston Clinton take the trip over to Luton on Saturday looking to get back on track after defeat at league leaders Park View on Wednesday evening, suffering their first league defeat since last August. With a heavily congested fixture list approaching for Jordan King’s men, victory on Saturday against the side who have tasted just one victory in their last nine league games would set them up nicely for their trip to local rivals Totternhoe next week-end. Aston put six past 61FC at the end of December and will be looking to repeat that performance.
Ahead of the game, Sports Shots caught up with Clinton manager Jordan King:
We went to Park View on Wednesday and it was always going to be a tough game, in my opinion we played very well and the whole group worked really hard. After being the better side for the first half hour & creating three very good chances, we somehow found ourselves three goals down. Two defensive mistakes within five minutes and a great strike, the mistakes were so unlike us. Defence is something we pride ourselves on, and we will be making sure that doesn’t happen again.
We now go to 61FC, everyone in the SSMFL knows what to expect when you play them; they are very hard working, dogged, physical & all round a very tough away day. There is no doubt about it, we have to bounce back with three points. We are missing a couple for the game unfortunately, Vinny (Greco), Joe (Kittle) & Luke (Russell) are all away, but we do welcome back Michael (Harper), Adam (Beckett) & Robert (Goldney) who returns to Aston after spending pre-season with us.
We still have the semi-final of the Wycombe Cup to play yet at the ASM Stadium against Thame Rangers, with the re-arranged date set to be announced in the next few days. It would be great to see as many people as possible there supporting us.
Sports Shots would like to thank Jordan for his time this week
