SSMFL,D1: Freshwater penalty gives Winslow big win at Enfield Borough to go second

Ryan Freshwater held his nerve to convert a penalty to give Winslow United a victory to put them second in the Spartan South Midlands League, Division 1 table.

Freshwater’s winner saw Paul Alleyne’s side record a 3-2 away win at a fellow top six side for the second time in seven days.

Earlier in the day United went two goals up in the first half through Lynton Goss but it was the home side who fought back to level in the second period.

Tom Brindley saw red for the visitors after picking up two yellow cards.

Three points at Enfield Borough is an outstanding result, especially as United were without Aaron King, Sean Coles and Simon King, all through suspension.
