Buckingham Athletic’s Ryan Marsden has spoken to Sports Shots as they prepare to host Harefield United in the Spartan South Midlands League, Division 1 on Saturday afternoon, 3pm.
Sports Shots caught up with Ryan and asked him the following questions.
How has the mood in the camp been since the derby win?
There’s nothing better than being winners in a local derby, but to beat Winslow the way we did, and with everyone backing Winslow to win, made it so much better! Due to that it’s lifted everyone’s mood in and around the club and in training, but now we need to kick on again and show that same desire and hard work to impress in the league.
How have you kept fit with playing just one game in almost a month?
It’s difficult to keep fit when there isn’t many games, but we’ve been training and I’ve been in the gym to keep my fitness ticking over.
How are you enjoying it back at the Athletic?
I think this is my third or fourth spell down the Ath now, and I have to say it’s been the best one yet! The team is better and stronger this year and it’s shown. The lads are a great bunch to play football with and be around on and off the pitch.
Anything else you want to say?
I think we’ve had a good first half of the season as results go, but there is always room for improvement. We’ve been unlucky due to injuries, but things are looking good as everyone is making their way back to fitness. As a team we just need to stick together and keep fighting as a team and the results will come.
