“Mursley United travelled to Berkhamsted Raiders on Saturday and were defeated 3-1.
With a number of players unavailable, manager Anthony Lands was able to field a bare eleven who fought hard, but struggled against an opposition who were more used to playing on the 3G surface. Chances were limited for both sides, but it was the visitors who opened the scoring as Ellis Spence was upended in the penalty area and Adam Bone dispatched the penalty with five minutes remaining before half time. However, the hosts were on level terms before the break when Danso escaped the attentions of the Mursley defence and slotted home past the onrushing Adam Moore, deputising in goal for the absent Sam Jay.
This goal galvanised the home side and they went ahead around the hour mark when Jordan MacDougall’s attempt to clear imminent danger, skewed off his left foot and into the top of the net past Moore. It looked like Danny Clarke had levelled the score ten minutes later, but he was adjudged to have pushed his marker as he bore down on goal and with fifteen minutes remaining, Spence was dismissed for dissent. The ten men of Mursley strove for an equaliser, but in the dying moments and, with players committed forward, substitute Macfarlane broke away and steered the ball past Moore to secure the three points”
