BSCC,1R: Winslow into semi-finals with Olney victory

Winslow United are into the semi-finals of the Buckingham Senior Charity cup after defeating Olney Town 4-1 at Elmfields gate on Tuesday evening.

Winslow Utd v Olney Town

Paul Alleyne’s side took the lead in the opening minute after a long ball down field found Daniel Delderfield, who ran through, despite strong appeals from the visitors for offside, to round Josh McAdoo before slotting home.

Sean Coles made it two as he drilled in a low shot into the net after latching onto a Roni Joe lay-off.

McAdoo made some excellent saves to keep his side in the game as Olney played against a strong wind and heavy showers throughout the first half.

Coles netted his 21st goal of the campaign as Winslow went three goals ahead. Matt Cruse saw his shot from the edge of the box deflected and it fell to Coles, who fired through a number of bodies into the far corner.

Cruse took the home side in four goals ahead at the break. He was found on the left hand side of the area, controlled before producing a shot which McAdoo saved, but the United forwarded carried on to poke into the empty net.

The second half saw Olney come back into the game as their substitute scored direct from a free-kick.

Winslow now face a two-legged semi-final against Daventry Town with the winners set to play either Buckingham Athletic or Leighton Town in the final.
