Mursley United returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over The 61 FC.
They had a chance in the first minute, but Gould, in the visitors goal, made a fine point-blank save from Danny Clarke. However, the hosts went ahead through a diving header from Mitchell Spiers after twelve minutes following a pin-point cross from Jordan McDougall.
The hosts continued to apply pressure and Gould made saves one-on-one with Adam Bone and twice from Peter McAnaspie to keep the lead to one goal at the break.
Shortly after the start of the second half, the referee adjudged some shirt-pulling at a corner and awarded Mursley a penalty which Bone dispatched.
The third goal came with around twenty minutes remaining as Spiers made a mazy run into the box, retained possession and poked the ball home.
Five minutes later, Spiers broke down the right and his cross was met on the edge of the area by McAnaspie, whose volley flew into the net.
The scoring was completed in injury time as the ball wasn’t cleared from a Mursley corner and skipper, Ellis Spence was on hand to head the loose ball home.
