Youth Cricket: Town youngsters become Bucks U12 county champions

Buckingham Town under 12 side travelled south on Sunday to play the county final against a High Wycombe team boasting 7 County players.

Towns youngsters had won Division 1 north finishing unbeaten as had High Wycombe in Division 1 South.

Losing the toss and being asked to bat on a green wicket openers Ben England and Aaron Gear batted sensibly with England reaching the 30 run limit to retire for the eleventh successive game , Gear fell for an excellent 23, William Jendon 27 not out and Will Glister 16 not out added runs to help the Town reach 123 for 1 from there 20 overs.

Town bowled well against some aggressive batting in the early overs Gus Howard returning 1-10 off his 3 overs , William Jendon, Ben England and Kian Brooke also picked up One wicket each. England also getting a run out, tight bowling from Thomas Woodham, Finley Clark, Will Glister and Henry Pearson meant that High Wycombe were always chasing the game, but the pick of the bowlers and man of the match was Aaron Gear who ended with figures of 3 overs 4 wickets for 8 runs he also had a direct hit run out. lewis Linford gave a faultless display behind the stumps with The fielding and bowling display being first class it proved to strong for Wycombe who were dismissed for 78 resulting in a comprehensive 45 run victory for the Talented town youngsters who add this trophy to the Northants under 10 championship they won in 2015.

The 13 man squad for the season of Thomas Woodham, Finley Clark, Ben England, William Jendon, Lewis Linford, Gus Howard, Ollie Hartigan, Henry Pearson, Callum Adron, Kian Brooke, Jack Yardley, Will Glister and Aaron Gear lifted the trophy in front of proud Parents and coaches Kevin Clark and Dean Woodham to end a perfect season.
