With no changes at the break, Jamie Sylvester netted a spectacular 40-yard free-kick in the 50th minute before scoring again to make it four just four minutes later.

In the heavy rain Sylvester produced a fantastic run before his centre was converted by Rory Busby on 71 minutes.

Just sixty seconds later Chris Stapleton scored a magical goal to make it six to the Athletic and complete his hat-trick.

Bedford pulled a goal back while Nick Bennion produced a fine save moments later.

A great team performance aided the Athletic’s progression with manager Mark Carter praising his side at the end but awarding Dan Hassell the man of the match.

The Athletic will now host AFC Hayes, who won 3-0 at Hatfield Town in their replay.

Thanks to Annie Carter for her updates.
