Aylesbury FC v Aylesbury United FC
Southern League Division One East
Bank Holiday Monday see’s the Aylesbury derby back at Haywood Way, known locally as ‘El Quackico’ the two club’s nicknames would see us witness The Moles v The Ducks, and an array of animal based puns to choose from. But we’re not one for making a mountain out of a mole hill, and certainly don’t want to ruffle any feathers.
With the season just three games old both sides will be looking to register their first win, and for United their first point(s) as three opening defeats sees them sitting uncomfortably in twenty-first place in the table, with their hosts just a point and three places above them with a solitary draw in their opening games.
Both teams have tasted success this season in the FA Cup, Aylesbury saw off Cirencester at Haywood Way by the odd goal in three, whilst United scored four past Leverstock Green although it did take a replay to settle the tie.
Saturday’s league results both ended in defeats so what better way to kick start your season than a local derby, on a Bank Holiday Monday that promises to be a scorcher on and off the pitch, with temperatures forecast of up to 26°C.
So if you’re digging around for somewhere to go, get down to The SRD Stadium, you’d be quackers to miss it!
