Sports Shots is very pleased to announce that new Hollyoaks actor Ayden Callaghan will become our first Ambassador.
The actor, who has appeared on many TV shows, films and theatre productions, is a big supporter and follower of local sport, football in particular, and shares the ethos that Sports Shots promotes.
“I have followed the work that Lorna and Andy do and it is something I am keen to support. It is what I feel passionately about myself and echoes my own beliefs.
Ayden officially joins Sports Shots ahead of his first appearance on Hollyoaks that is due to be shown on Channel 4 next Thursday 23rd May, but has been a long-time follower and supporter of the site through his association with Winslow United as a former player and now supporter.
The Hollyoaks actor said “I am very pleased to be joining Sports Shots as an Ambassador.
“In my new work role I am able to help raise awareness of the local area that Sports Shots cover.”
Ayden originates from Winslow and still has many family and friends living in the town and around the area. His brother Nick works tirelessly for the club and also helps Sports Shots in reporting from matches.
“I have a lot of good friends who have all been very pleased for me with their messages of support and that has meant a lot to me” he added.
Looking at promoting sport in the area, Ayden said “I am keen to make people aware that local clubs can be a great place to be. If you look at my club, Winslow United, it is a great example of what I mean. It is a town club, playing a good standard of football, run by local people who are not getting paid but doing it for the love of the game and the community. Many former players return to support the club while some are involved in it’s day-to-day running.
“I want to make people aware that it is a family club, where you can bring your children with you to watch, who run junior sections for both boys and girls. You can meet people from the local community and it promotes a positive atmosphere. Come along, enjoy a drink after the game and get to know people.
“If someone owns a local business then I hope they will sponsor the club and get their name into the community and in return that local people support them.
“It is the same with other clubs in the area and it is a case of people being aware of what is on offer.
In Hollyoaks Ayden has been cast as Joe Roscoe, the eldest brother who is always looking out for his younger siblings. With old-fashioned values, Joe acts as the patriarch of the Roscoe family.
Ayden’s best known role to date was playing Miles De Souza in the ITV 1 soap Emmerdale, and he has appeared on our screens more recently with Jack Whitehall in Bad Education and also on Eastenders.
Sports Shots would like to thank Ayden for his continued support of the site and look forward to working with him in the future.
