Buckingham Town 4ths moved up to 3rd in Division 8 after a brilliant run chase on Saturday.
After some indifferent performances in the batting department in recent weeks Town welcomed Oxford 4ths to the lovely North Marston ground.
Winning the toss and asking Oxford to bat seemed a good decision as Oxford were soon four wickets down for 1 run. Skipper Kevin Clark with 3 wickets and Dane Tuttlebee with the other.
Oxford then went on to make 221 for 7 with Ben Cater and Joe Clark picking up a wicket each, with Clark also getting a run out.
Faced with the largest run chase in 4th teams short history 16 year old Fin Lee 57 and the experienced Club chairman Ade Johnson 41 set a great platform with a superb opening stand. The dismissal of Lee then set off a flurry of wickets losing 4 for only 10 runs.
Joe Clark and Cam Harrington then settled things down and re- ignited the run chase before Harrington was dismissed for 32 with Clark still at the crease.
Town reached the target with 3 balls to spare with the 15 year old Joe Clark finishing 56 not out, his maiden fifty in senior cricket for Buckingham in an innings including 8 fours.
A great run chase and a great all round team performance leaves the 4ths in a strong position to continue the quest for back to back promotions.
