Buckingham Athletic under 18s remain on course in their quest for promotion as they won 3-1 at Holyport in the Allied Counties Youth Football League, Central Division last night.
Matt Ogle’s side recorded their fourth win on the bounce thanks to an impressive second half display.
After a disappointing first half, it was the home side who went in one goal ahead as the Athletic under 18s conceded only their second goal in six games.
The Athletic manager introduced Henry Jones and Stuart Ironmonger, both who were rested, and the changes worked for the visitors.
Luke Tavener produced an excellent finish to equalise after the Athletic u18s had crafted the goal with some good football.
Brad Walker put the visitors in front as he headed home a superb Dan Staley delivery from a free kick and from here there was only ever going to be one winner.
Athletic wrapped up the game as Jordan Gardner went on a mazy run and set up Walker to slot home his second and the visitors third.
The Athletic are now six points behind the leaders with games in hand.
On Monday evening Ogle’s side travel to Aylesbury with a place in the quarter-final of the League Cup awaiting the winners. Kick-off at Hayward Road is 7.45pm.
