Marsh Gibbon beat old rivals Faringdon in a tight 2 wicket win on Saturday.
Having been put into bat Faringdon were soon reduced to 7-3 with Turner and Callow bowling tight spells. Oglesby and James fought back with a 60 run partnership before a double strike by Needham in the same over broke the partnership. Faringdon were never able to get away and finished their 45 overs on 126-8. Marsh started off confidently with both Vadivale and Mead scoring freely taking the score to 45. Having reached 77-2 a collapse occurred reducing the hosts to 89-8 before Needham joined Stu Leonard in the middle to put on 40 for the 9th wicket and see Marsh home.
Captain Timms was delighted with the win “it was great to get over the line, especially after failing to chase down a similar score in our last match. Stu played a great innings, a lot different to his normal but perfect in the situation. We have 2 weeks off now so it was an important win.”
