Although the last football season is just a distant memory, it has been a busy few weeks off the pitch at Brackley Sports as they have celebrated the last twelve months and are working off the pitch in preparation for the new campaign.
Adam Williams scooped a double haul as he was named both First Team Players Player and Managers Player at the clubs recent presentation evening held at Rumours in Brackley. Gary Hopkins was named the First Teams Shining Star, whilst the prolific Andy Prescott once again walked away as the sides top scorer.
The other winners on the night were as follows;
Reserve Team Players Player – Ian Hazlewood, Reserve Team Managers Player – James Timmis, Reserve Team Shining Star – Michael Gray, Reserve Team Top Scorers – Alex Hayward and Ollie Collier.
Ladies Team Players Player – Christina Picchianti, Ladies Team Managers Player – Kayleigh Harwood, Ladies Team Shining Stars – Megan Knowleden & Nicole Britten, Ladies Team Top Scorer – Kayleigh Harwood.
Sportsman – Tom Lowery, Clubman – Andy Bannard.
Off the field, First Team Manager Jon Blencowe has stepped down from the hot seat after three years in charge, the club would like to thank him for his hard work and wish him all the best with his future venture. The club have spoken to a number of people regarding the vacancy and hope to announce Jon’s replacement in the next few days.
The club also have plans to expand next year, running a Veterans team along with returning to their roots and entering a side in the Banbury Sunday Morning League, alongside the two mens sides and ladies team currently being run. Anyone interested in playing for any of the clubs teams next year should contact Andy Bannard on 07931 370491 for more information. The club are also looking for a manager for the Sunday team, again Andy Bannard can be contacted by phone or email the club at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The clubs Saturday side will also be looking smart next season after Brackley based BVS, based in Buckingham Court agreed to sponsor the kits of both the Firsts and Reserves for the next two seasons. The kit matches that currently worn by Sports Ladies when they recently lined up for the camera along with their sponsor Bilal Gilgil from The Direct Pizza Company. Chairman Andy Bannard said of the deal “Its fantastic news for the club, at our level of football sponsorship is always hard to come by and we are lucky to have companies like this who are willing to support local teams and grassroots football in general. In a further boost to the club, Rumours Sports Bar have agreed to continue as the club sponsor for the next two seasons also and their help and support goes a long way in keeping the club going allowing us to continue to grow and develop.”
